I remember when I created this website! It’s been a year and I remember is still alive and well. I gave the site a couple birthday presents in the form of a better comment link and a “gratitude” area on the Colophon page that expresses my thanks to those that have linked to me over the past year. More memories to come and thanks once again to everyone who has contributed this year, especially the Pmachine and 9rules folks!

Flag Day

I remember still being in school on June 16th, 1982 and celebrating Flag Day in a parade around the school parking lot. I mostly hung out with a boy name Colin, the class lunatic, who had recently almost severed his thumb in a desk-climbing accident. I remember Colin turning to me and exclaiming “I’m patriotic because my thumb is red, white and blue too!”. Indeed it was, the thumb was bruised with blue stiches, slashed red and flaking with white bits of skin - disgusting but very first grade.

Tiny microscope

I remember being in cub scouts and spending the night in a natural science museum. The next morning my dad took me to the gift shop and I bought a microscope/telescope device shaped like a pen. The institute was the Cranbrook Science Museum at the Cranbrook Educational Community where I would one day attend graduate school for fine art.
