The take-home gerbil

Add a memory
I remember the time it was my turn to take the gerbil home from my kindergarten class. Once home, the cage sat on my dresser and I was fascinated by this mouse that stored stuff in it’s mouth, I needed to know more. I started dropping things like coins, paper, cardboard and whatever else was lying around to see what he would stick in his mouth. When I returned the gerbil I was grilled on why there was 50 cents in loose change in the bottom of the cage.

I remember when my mother was carrying my brother down a flight of stairs in the house and slipping. They both tumbled down the stairs and my mom came down on Evan’s leg, breaking it. After my brothers leg was put in a cast and every thing had settled down, a neighbor came by to see how everyone was. When the neighbor asked my 3 year old brother what happened he said “Mom threw me down the stairs” i- t’s a good thing she had a good sense of humor.

I remember my brother slipping in the showers after swim lessons one time. Evan was bleeding badly from his chin and we took him back out to the pool area to see the coach. I remember her dunking him in the pool which seemed wrong.
