Jams and Skidz were too expensive, so mom made them for me

I remember when Jams and Skids were the popular pants and shorts to wear; probably around 1985 or 86. These fashionable and lively-colored pants were somewhat expensive and my mom wasn’t very receptive to filling a 10-year old’s wardrobe with pricey designer pants. However, my mother is a creative and talented individual who just bought some bolts of fabric that looked the same as the designer line and made me her own version of the popular clothing. They looked pretty cool and you could barely tell the difference. Thanks for doing that mom
Scared of garbage trucks

I remember being terrified of garbage trucks when I was a small boy. I remember being at my great grandmothers house at the Jersey Shore and trying to hide from the truck picking up her garbage. I think it was all the hydraulic noise those things make, they’re absolutely massive and super loud to someone 3 feet tall.

Two-week vacations

I remember two-week vacations during the summer when I was a kid. We actually had the entire summer off but leaving home for two weeks and going to the sea shore was a vacation from vacation. I kind of miss those days between the ages of 10 and 14 before I started working during the summer. I think I was old enough during that period to appreciate the freedom and enjoyment of being a kid.
