I Remember

Colophon

This idea is totally lifted! The idea for this blog was taken from Joe Brainard: I Remember a book that has deeply inspired me. I originally heard about Joe Brainard in 2004 on The Next Big Thing on NPR. You can actually listen to the archived audio of the original broadcast (sorry about the RealAudio) that sparked my interest. The broadcast looks back at the life of Joe Brainard and discusses his book.

I see this book, or this idea, as a kind of model or spark for one to start writing their own memories down. I'm not a writer but I want to get these memories down; I want to remember.

About the Author

your dutiful author

My name is Andy Detskas, I currently reside in Lansing, the capitol city of Michigan. I've lived in a number of U.S. states, and have begun to actively persue world travel. I've been interested in memory since I was a child when I thought I could capture and save a moment just like a camera by blinking my eyes like a shutter. I remember doing this for the first time on the school bus in 5th grade. In college, I majored in Art and made photo-collages that I thought looked like memories. In graduate school for art, I made faux-memorials and other graphics works that were memory based. I am fascinated by memory and how it is crucial to making us who we are.
