Merry-go-round

I remember going to this amusement park on the Jersey Shore and thinking the buggies on the merry-go-round were so cool. I must have been all of 4 or 5.

I remember being a “tween,” hanging out with some neighborhood boys at the park. The ground of the playground was covered in wood chips, and the boys used their foot to write “gook” in the wood chips. I laughed, because they got the racial slur wrong. I’m a “chink,” not a “gook.”
